In a move that has shocked the football world, Gold Coast head coach Stuart Dew has selected himself for this weeks match against St Kilda.
The Suns are 15th on the ladder, and last week suffered an embarrassing defeat at the hands of GWS, where they failed to take a mark inside 50 for the entire game.
“We knew we had to make some drastic changes this week,” said Dew when talking to the media.
“We were lacking a hard-nosed, mildly overweight player with a booming left boot capable of scoring quickly.
“Little did we know I was right here this whole time,” he laughed.
Dew is expected to shoulder the kick out duties for most of the game before pushing forward in the second half.
“We’ve struggled with our second half scoring, and I think we all know what I’m capable of when it comes to third quarter bursts,” said Dew.
The selection committee was reportedly worried about Dew’s fitness level, and whether or not he was capable of running out a game of football, but Dew remained adamant that they had nothing to worry about.
“If anything I’ve lost weight since 2008, just get the ball in my area and I’ll do the rest,” said Dew as he concluded his press conference.
