The commissioner of the NBA, Adam Silver, has shocked the NBA world today by presenting the Golden State Warriors with the 2019 NBA Championship, before the season has even begun.
This came after the announcement that All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins signed with the Warriors, meaning their entire starting five were selected in the 2018 All-Star game.
“We thought we’d save everyone some time and just get it out of the way early,” said Silver when speaking to the media about the presentation.
“The Lakers looked like they were building a super-team themselves, but then they signed JaVale McGee and Rajon Rondo and ruined any chance of a ring,” he said.
An ecstatic DeMarcus Cousins spoke to a reporter after being awarded his first championship, despite never even playing in a play-off game.
“It’s such a great feeling when you get rewarded for all your hard work.
“People will try to say I don’t deserve it, but they don’t realise the amount of money I had to give up so I could join this unfair squad a ruin the NBA,” he said.
