Local batsman Ben Patmore has today been caught out after falsely telling his mates that he made a score of “20 odd” over the weekend.
The investigation into Patmore’s innings began after his friends contacted The First Reserve, stating that while recounting the innings Patmore began sweating profusely while trying to change the subject numerous times.
A close friend of Patmore, who chose to remain anonymous told The First Reserve that “Ben is probably the worst batsman I’ve ever seen in my whole life. When he told us he’d managed to crack the twenties, we had to know more.”
Our best investigative journalists were able to track down the scorecard and reveal to Patmore’s friends and family that the batsman managed just 13 runs from 35 balls in his side’s 10 wicket loss.
A teammate from the controversial match stated that “It was incredible that he even made it to 13. I honestly think he edged every shot he played.”
When asked for a comment, Patmore’s father said “I’d like to apologise to all of Ben’s friends who have been lied to. We thought we’d raised our child better than this. We’re so, incredibly sorry.”
