After a tough win over the Swans in Sydney, Port Adelaide looked to have finally beaten a top eight side after 624 days, but while holding back his laughter in the post-game press conference, Ken Hinkley informed us it was all an April fool’s joke.
“Check the date bro,” said Hinkley when asked about the gritty victory against a top eight outfit.
“It’s just a prank, I can’t believe you guys fell for it!
“Obviously we’re still flat track bullies and will smash the Lions next week, but if the Bombers are in the eight when we play them the week after we’ll probably get rolled.
“Originally I was going to just tell the lads that Kane Cornes was the new assistant coach, but I thought that was a bit too cruel.
“Then Boaky came up with the great idea to lure our fans into a false sense of security.”
Hinkley was unable to finish the press conference as he was in a fit of laughter, so we’ll have to see how the Power respond for ourselves in the coming weeks.
