Reserves footballer Adam Fisher has surprised everyone at the Hoolangatta Hawks’ training session by debuting a new pair of fluoro orange Nike boots.
Fisher managed six appearances for the Hawks last season playing in the back pocket, but was unable to crack the best players on any occasion.
“With these boots on, the coaches won’t miss all my one percenters down back,” Fisher said when asked about his purchase.
Our investigations revealed that the boots worn by Fisher were the Nike Mercurial Superfly 360’s, valued at $360.
“I see it as an investment rather than just an expensive pair of boots,” Fisher said, somewhat defensively.
“If I’m able to get a few votes for the best and fairest, then they’ve paid for themselves.”
Fisher’s teammates weren’t quite as optimistic about the purchase.
“The bloke hardly gets a kick, why the f*** did he spend that much?” said the captain.
“What a dickhead,” said another player.
The coach also chimed in, stating, “He’ll probably be able to return them as new at the end of the year, I doubt he’ll get much of a run.”
Fisher declined to comment further on the boots, but stated, “We’ll see who’s laughing at the end of season awards.”
